Celebrating 20 years of the Contemporary Glass Society
On now until 23 March 2019
The Contemporary Glass Society is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of exhibitions around the country to raise awareness of the glory of contemporary glass and Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury is the fourth venue in a series of exhibitions.
Glorious Glass demonstrates how glorious and amazing contemporary glass is so that everyone can appreciate and enjoy its magical colours, textures, use of light and variety of techniques and also discover their own local glass artists. The work displayed features as wide a range of techniques as possible. Each artist explains why glass is glorious to them and why they have chosen the pieces on display to express that passion for their chosen material. On display is work by almost 40 artists who are based in Bucks and the surrounding counties, the Midlands and Greater London.
The Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) is the principle supporter and promoter of artists and collectors of contemporary glass in the UK and has almost 1,000 members both nationally and internationally.
The exhibition is accompanied by workshop opportunities where the public can experience working with glass, a Forum Day with a range of leading glass artist speakers who use a range of different glass techniques and a Glass Makers Fair providing an opportunity for everyone to purchase glass artwork that suits every pocket. Details of all glass events are available on the museum website.
Glorious Glass exhibition runs until 23 March 2019. Work on display is for sale and entry to the exhibition is by donation.
